So it sat for almost a decade in his side yard among the weeds and brambles. It’s a 1965 Mustang GT coupe with an A-code 289 cid 4 barrel engine and factory power steering. Now here’s a real rust bucket project Mustang for sale. Bidding went up to $999, but apparently the owner thinks it’s worth quite a bit more than that because it didn’t hit his reserve. You can tell this recent 1968 Mustang for sale on eBay has lived it’s whole life in the Rust Belt; specially Florida, where the sea air took a major beating to this car. It sold for $3,300 on a NO RESERVE auction. The seller was straight forward in his ad saying, “the pictures speak the truth. She needs it all.” He goes on by saying, “anticipate replacing all metal. This great little project Mustang for sale on eBay recently would be fun to tackle. It’s a very desirable combination; The sleek 2+2 fastback body style along with the rare K-code 289 mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. The K code was the high performance (HiPo) engine Ford put in the early 1965-1967 Mustangs. This solid lifter small block was built for performance with 10.5:1 compression, a 4 bbl carburetor and 271 horsepower. The “K-code” designation comes from the VIN, where the 5th digit is a K signifying the HiPo 289 engine. Continue reading →

It’s a factory S code 390 Mustang fastback that’s been wrecked hard in the rear and then hacked apart in the front. 1967 was the first year for a big block in the Ford Mustang.
